Christmas Treeeeeeee!

Will and I put up the Christmas tree the other day and it is very cute! We got a little tree at Hobby Lobby 1/2 off, a set of glass ornaments, some cheesy tinsel garland, and fancy twinkle lights. The tree seemed to be missing something so I started to search the house for other stuff to add. I spotted my fake fruit and thought, "Genius idea!" After the fake fruit, I then added some fake Hawaiian flowers into the branches as well. Our tree turned out beautifully! I love it.

Last night, Will and I turned out all of room lights and turned on the Christmas tree. We watched it twinkle until we drifted asleep. I felt very nostalgic and happy for this:)

Our wreath. I love this thing. I paid 50 cents for it!

I wanna be cool again......

OH MY GOD. I turned 27 last week. Most people my age are married and already have houses, steady jobs, a dog, and kids. Fuck. Meanwhile, I am still wishing to be cool agian, like when I was 22. Damn.

I was a student, I was making art, I was carefree and could hold down the liquor like none other! I went out most nights of the week, dressed cute every damn day, and generally had a pretty exciting life. I moved often, had crazy roommates, and wasn't afraid of anything. Oh, and my hair was totally bitchin'!!!

Anyway, I am just being nostalgic about that time of my life, but I also realize alot of things about my current situation are 100% better than back then. I have stable friendships, I am close with my family, I have the love of my life by my side, and I am much wiser these days. All in all, I wouldn't trade what I have now to go back to being a wild child.

My Friends Are Lucky Charms

Gotta love treasure trolls. I myself had a decent collection of them as a kid and actually got to take them to BINGO on Wednesday nights with my mom and grandma in the basement of St. John's Catholic church. When we arrived, all of the old ladies were chatty as they arranged their good luck charms and bingo dobbers strategically in front of their many cards. I got my own card too!

Once the announcer started to call the numbers, any noise I made would result in glares from hell from old ladies and "Shhhhhh." Oh the agony for an 8 year old! If I won, I would get very shy and tug at my mom's sleeve to get her attention so she could shout "BINGO!" for me. During speed BINGO sessions, those little old ladies would play 10 cards at a time, frantically dobbing and searching for numbers. At this point, my mom would take pity on me and send me off with 50 cents to go get a candy bar. I keep looking back at these times of going to BINGO with my mom and grandma and wondering if they were good times or bad ones?

In any case, I found these treasure trolls at the Crowded Closet in Iowa City, Iowa the other day and felt many fond memories towards these homely little things. Are they soo ugly that they are cute?
