Anna Sui for Target:)

My love for Target is everlasting- on Sunday, September 13th, 2009 at 8 a.m., the new Anna Sui for Target collection made it's debut. Coralridge Mall was the only mall in all of Iowa to get the collection. I have been waiting anxiously for this thing for..... months. Anna Sui has been my favorite designer since I was 10 and wanted to be a fashion designer when I grew up.

So on Sunday morning, I woke up startled and already late. I threw on some clothes from the floor and hauled my ass straight to Target.

9:03 a.m. - I power walked into Target like a fashion crazed monster and frantically searched for the whereabouts of this insanely fabulous collection. It was nowhere to be found.

I then went to the fitting room and practically demanded to speak with the manager in charge of softlines. It was my old boss, Brooke. Her exact words? "I should of figured it was you!"
I guess Target didn't realize little girl's dreams were at stake here cause they hadn't even bothered to put the collection out yet. The nerve of it all!

So Brooke, the softlines team leader rolled out the collection for me from the backroom and I was like a kid at a candy store. I felt so special shopping the collection straight off of the rack before the general public got their greedy and jealous little paws on it. Muhahaha!

I ended up coming out with the metallic sparkle dress, the puffy vest, and some ugly shirt I later returned. I have not quit wearing the puffy vest. It is so retro and comfie and cute. And all I can do right now it keep trying on the dress with heals, tossing around my hair, and applying more eyeliner. Dreams really do come true!

Screw all that crap about Gossip Girl. I tried to watch like one episode and got so utterly bored that I turned it off after about two minutes. I am all about the Anna Sui goodness!

This collection is hot! Love it!

Eat my Glam!

Expect glam from me, damn it! I am sooooooo happy for Target this summer.... Here you see my awesome Dwell Studios shower curtain, my Anna Sui for Target dress, and my Erickson Beamon for Target cocktail ring. Can Target seriously be any more hip and rad? Seriously, bring on the radness, Target!

Cocktail ring: Erickson Beamon for Target
Dress: Anna Sui for Target
Necklace: Target

I will be totally wearing this dress and all of the fantastic jewelry to Amber's wedding next week! I am so psyched for a reason to wear a pretty dress:) Yay!

A dog in sheep's clothing

OH MAN! One of the best things about having a dog is dressing him up! Endlessly entertaining. Here we have Spencer the peasant followed by cowboy Spencer.

He looks utterly thrilled, don't you think?

Going to the Iowa City Art Fair is really all about the food, not art!

This afternoon, it didn't rain as forecast so my friends from Burlington and I were able to take a trip down to the Iowa City Arts Fair. Now I am not going to discredit the actual art down at the art fair, but in my humble opinion, the best part of the Iowa City Art Fair is the food!!!!

I totally got more steak-on-a-stick. We all did. Meat is amazing, and when it is juicy and bbq'ed just right on a stick, it is to die for. Love it! Today was also kid's day down at the art fair so we got to play with Kendra's daughter and play a bit ourselves, too!

Kendra and I tearing at our meat-on-a-stick like cavemen.

Will and I loving the great weather and cuddling on a bench together.

Kendra putting some style into eating her steak. And yes, we totally ate in the alley.

Iowa City has great Gyros pretty much year round from the cart in the Ped Mall. Anyone who does not live in Iowa City must devour one of these when they visit. Kendra knows what's up!

Kendra and I will make excellent bag ladies someday.

Justin modeling his birth control glasses. Woo hooo!

It was pretty hot today so we stopped for a break in the shade.

Getting Aurora to say "I love my two dads" was classic!

Aurora took full advantage of her new pony, Will and proceeded to ride on his shoulders all afternoon.

We played dress up at one of the kids day events in the Ped Mall. I think Aurora looks like a sorcerer here. Or, you know, Harry Potter. Whatever.

A-frickin'-dorable!

Aurora chowing down on some juicy steak... On Will's head!

This kid is totally going to rebel and become a vegetarian someday.

Holding down Aurora to get a good photo.

I like to play dress up too!

All of the little girls were going ga-ga over the dress up stuff. It was pretty funny.

Will got himself a hotdog. Yummers!!!

Blue Eyeshadow Girl

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I braved a freak blizzard here in Iowa to visit our siblings upstate. Naturally, we did the tourist thing and took a trip to Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines, Iowa on our way home. This mall has Sephora, the much loved and coveted makeup store that carries many independent and cool brands like Urban Decay and Benefit.

Well, what was in store for us at Sephora was not the usual catty bitches fighting over the latest lipliner. Instead, there was a completely unattended little kid making herself up in the mirror with all of the trial products. She went to town with some bright blue Urban Decay product on her eyelids and then moved on to the Dior section to savvily try out shades of lipstick and blush until she found the right shade.

Although the little girl looked completely comical with her clown blush, drag queen blue eye shadow, and too dark lipstick, a happy sentimental part of my heart warmed to this kid. She was in the zone, she found something very fascinating and feminine, and through the next 10 or so years of trial and error with make-up, she is bound to someday be a super cool and put together woman!

P.S I was not ballsy enough to snap a photo of the kid in the store putting on makeup so these are totally just Googled images of "little girl makeup."
